2. Jetpack

Jetpack is a free plugin you can find at jetpack.com.

Jetpack is a security and marketing plugin. It can protect you from brute-force attacks by restricting the number of login attempts from a single IP address. It monitors your website for downtime, provides XML sitemaps, image and file hosting, and more. This is an all-around great plugin to take advantage of on any WordPress site.

3. EWWW Image Optimizer

EWWW Image Optimizer is a free plugin you can find at ewww.io.

If you’d like a faster website, one of the best ways is to compress your images. With WordPress, you can start by using EWWW Image Optimizer. This plugin will automatically compress images in JPG, PNG, GIF formats as well as PDF files. This makes sure every image is optimized for every device. It can also compress images as they’re uploaded, to prevent users from mistakenly uploading images that are way too big.

4. IP Geo Block

IP Geo Block is a free plugin you can find at ipgeoblock.com.

You may have noticed your analytics can get muddied with data from areas you don’t serve. If you’re a plumber, restaurant, or bank, etc., you really don’t need all of the data about people visiting your website from Japan, Switzerland, South Africa, New Zealand, etc. It can actually make your website safer to block anyone with an IP address from outside of your selected country from accessing the website.

With IP Geo Block, you can block those IP addresses wholesale, reducing server load, increasing security, and cleaning up your analytics. This reduces the chance of malicious access of your website, and blocks unnecessary comments. If you need to, you can unblock additional countries. For instance, if you’re in the U.S., you could include Canada or Mexico as safe countries to access your website from.
